Work Setting:
Meat processing and/or packing plant/establishment
Food processing plant.

Work Site Environment: Noisy, cold/refrigerated, wet/damp

RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks
Operate machinery to process and bag, box or otherwise package food products
Record production information
Enter material information and weights from product tags into ERP system.
Retrieve rework, meat combos, defrost racks and any other production materials using pump carts or forklifts as required.
Clean machines and immediate work areas. Return product to coolers, and disassemble equipment at shift end
Inform supervisor of mechanical malfunctions or product irregularities
Troubleshoot equipment issues and complete any minor adjustments.
Maintain shift log of production and other data
Set up and adjust processing and packaging machines
Check products for defects and ensure conformance to company standards
Inspection – load meat combos into hoist, operate hoist to place meat onto inspection table, inspect meat for foreign materials, and place meat into buggies
Tag and record information for any foreign materials found in the inspection process and report to quality.
Transport raw materials, finished products and packaging materials
Scaling – manually move buggies onto the scale, add or remove meat until at proper weight, place lid and tag onto buggy, and move buggy to grinder staging area.
Grind meats
Defrost – identify and retrieve frozen product, unbox product and manually place onto defrost racks, move racks into defrost room, record meat surface and core temperatures, and select proper defrost program.
Follow FIFO requirements and gather samples for quality as required.
Work in a safe manner in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act by reporting all hazards, accidents, incidents or near misses to the Supervisor.
Responsible for maintaining food safety standards in work responsibilities and report food safety issues to QA.
