Today, almost 40 years later, Queen’s Pasta proudly serves a number of reputable hotels, restaurants, casinos, grocery stores and other sizeable establishments across the GTA and surrounding areas.
About the Position:
We are currently looking for a Shipper Receiver – Climate Sensitive to join our team! The individual in this position will be working with constant temperature fluctuations that come with the different tasks.
A more detailed list of duties are as follows:
• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and damage;
• Prepare, package, and stock outgoing orders, ensuring secure, minimal-waste packaging practices;
• Use digital (and at times, manual) systems to track inventory and shipments;
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment responsibly and efficiently;
• Oversee loading and unloading of products from trucks or other conveyances, including internal coding and routing of goods
• May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times
• Ensure that the shipping/receiving area is clean
Additional Information
• Hot Production Kitchen: When collecting our sauces in pails to be packed on pallets/skids, you would be in the hot production kitchen, where the temperature can range from 25-35°C;
• Walk-In Freezers: When stocking pallets or boxes of our frozen pasta products, you would work in a walk-in freezer, where temperatures are typically between -5 and -12°C. In these environments, wearing heavy-duty thermal coats and gloves is mandatory to protect your skin and lungs from the cold;
• Pasta and Pasteurization Rooms: These areas can also be very hot, adding to the temperature challenges throughout the day;
• Walk-In Refrigeration Units: While not as cold as the freezers, these units still operate in the range of -1 to 5°C, so you’ll need to prepare for cold temperatures here as well;
• Loading Dock Area: The temperature here can be extreme, with trailers often reaching 35-40°C in the summer or dropping to -12 to -15°C in the winter, depending on the goods being transported (dry, refrigerated, or frozen);
Requirements:
- No minimum education requirements;
- Good English language skills (basic communication – reading, writing, speaking);
- No prior experience but ability and willingness to work in climate sensitive environment is a must – we will train - please refer to additional information above;
- Lifting up to 20 Kg;
Salary and Hours of work per week:
- $21.65 per hour for 35 – 40 hours per week;
- Full-time, temporary position;
