Accounting Technician (Bookkeeper):
Refinery is looking for a full-time Accounting Technician (Bookkeeper) to join our Operations Team in our Vancouver, B.C. head office. The Accounting Technician will primarily support the Accounting Lead to take care of the day-to-day accounting tasks in the preparation and reconciliation of the month-end and year-end financials. And because we are a small but mighty team and everyone at Refinery wears many hats, this role also has responsibility for payroll, IT services coordination and office management. This position reports to the VP, Operations & Client Experience.

Job Description
Accounting
Prepare monthly cashflow statement
Prepare and analyze bi-weekly revenue and billing reports
Attend the bi-weekly sales pipeline meetings
Prepare preliminary Trial Balance for parent company
Complete bank account and credit card reconciliations
Manage Accounts Payable including entering, reviewing and making payments by ACH and wire transfers
Make GST and corporate tax payments and prepare journal entries
Client invoicing, monitor Accounts Receivable weekly and liaise with Client Leads on overdue accounts
Month-end GL account reconciliations
Prepare journal entries
Preparing ad hoc financial reports as required by management
Assist the Accountant with the monthly financial package preparation
Assist the Managing Director with monthly expense report, etc.
Maintain accounting systems, user licenses, access, vendor info, etc.
Prepare the semi-monthly payroll for the Canadian employees, and manage the year-end payroll process
Prepare Workers’ Compensation and EHT reports and filings
Prepare contracts for external consultants

IT
Liaise with our external provider on day-to-day technology issues, oversee the IT roadmap
Coordinate hardware purchases, maintain office equipment and inventory
Administer Microsoft licenses and technology platforms such as Zoom
Marketing
Working with the VP, Client Leadership, make updates to the Refinery website and liaise with the team in Chile to coordinate changes to the Spanish website

Office Management
Maintain the office, monitoring for cleanliness, office supplies, recycling, checking for mail, assisting with occasional in-office events, lunch orders, etc.
