Description: We have two children: age 3 and 5. The caregiver will be responsible for picking our 5 year old up from school, caring for him in our residence, providing him an after school snack and taking him to and bringing him home from various after school activities. While our 3 year old is in full-time daycare, the caregiver will supervise and care for our 3 year old outside of daycare hours, during daycare closures, and will occasionally be responsible to pick him up from daycare. While the caregiver’s regular schedule will be on average a minimum of 22 hours a week, the caregiver will be on-call an additional 10 hours a week and will be required to attend work, sometimes on short notice, in the event of a school or daycare closure, if either child is home sick, if additional hours are required to support our work schedules or for any other reason. Since the caregiver will not be permitted to work elsewhere during these on-call hours, these on-call hours will be paid at the caregiver’s regular rate.
Other responsibilities will include tending to the emotional well-being of the children, disciplining children according to the methods requested by parents, instructing the children in personal hygiene and social development, keeping records of daily activities and health information, organizing and participating in educational and play activities such as music, games, sports, crafts, reading, and outings as well as fostering an overall healthy environment in our home. The caregiver will also be responsible for light cleanup incidental to caregiving duties (e.g., cleaning up after the children).
Position Requirements: Completion of secondary school, and at least 1 year of paid experience as a child caregiver or in a similar role working with children. The ideal candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the parents’ jobs. Strong references are mandatory.
