With 30 years of family-owned and operated experience, Zara’s Deli offers a colourful range of fresh pastas, sauces, olives, assorted antipasti, and other authentic Italian food offerings.
Position Available: Assistant Manager – Food Services
Type of Position: Permanent, Full-time, Shifts, Weekends
Salary: $29.00 per hour

Qualifications:
• Strong customer service skills
• Prior experience in food preparation or service is required (1+ years)
• Good English language skills
• Completion of secondary school
Job Description
Responsibilities Include:
• Plan and organize the operations of deli’s both backend (food preparation) and service areas (to patrons of Granville Island)
• Monitor, interview and recruit (aligned with management) staff and oversee staff training. Match experienced staff members/supervisors to newly hired staff members and if required, involve in training phase.
• Control inventory, maintain the inventory in optimum level and if necessary, modify the upcoming orders from suppliers with busy seasons, special events etc.
• Preparing work schedules and monitor their performance, if necessary, organize additional training hours for staff’s development areas while the deli is operating. Maintain necessary staff workforce during these trainings with advanced schedule management.
• Ensuring food and service meet quality control standards and safety procedures
• Resolve customer complaints if on-site Supervisors are unable to. Address complaints in a productive manner and pass the feedback to the staff members in routine meetings of continuous improvement.
