MCW Consulting Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Vancouver Office.
Permanent, Full-time; 37.5 hours/week, overtime as required. $36.06 per hour, plus extended health package and RRSP match up.

Job Description
Duties:
a. Discuss and plan designs for the execution of construction projects and advise on the best methodologies and structures that can be employed for successful accomplishment of the project.
b. Complete and review construction drawings for fellow engineers and other construction site workers.
c. Coordinate with other consulting disciplines to ensure drawing integrity and completeness.
d. Explain safety protocols and how to technically handle the various instruments used on-sites to the low-level engineers.
e. Attend meetings and deliberate with project managers, consulting engineers and subcontractors to review ongoing projects, present an update on project's progress, and share ideas on different approaches on how the projects can be accomplished in due time.
f. Escalate resource issues to the appropriate Project Manager.
g. Take ownership of projects to assure that schedules and deliverables are met, and liaise with the senior engineer/PM to ensure projects remain on track. Ensure quality, completeness and co-ordination of your work.
h. Ensure proper installation, manage tests, maintenance and overall control of all activities related to mechanical equipment and facilities;
i. Work with contractors and respond to technical inquiries;
j. Regular visits to construction sites to monitor and resolve any unexpected technical difficulties;
k. Oversee and inspect the installation, modification, and commissioning of mechanical systems in construction sites or industrial facilities;
l. Customer relationship management through delivery of quality, high-value engineering services, forge solid, long-term relationships with clients who provide repeat work.
m. Preparation of design/documentation in AutoCAD and REVIT platforms.
n. Prepare project correspondence, including site instructions, memos, field review reports, etc.
o. Design layout, calculations and equipment selections, under supervision of experienced staff
p. Assist in the preparation of mechanical specifications.
q. Represent MCW professionally to clients, staff, vendors, other project consultants, etc.
r. Self-perform any/all aspects of design and production when required, including calculations, systems’ layout, equipment selection, sizing, CAD drafting, red-line markups, etc.
s. Preparation of accurate mechanical schedules.
t. Co-ordinate with electrical discipline to ensure mechanical requirements are captured
u. Develop, enforce and adhere to corporate standards and design guidelines presented in our National Quality Assurance manual & OQM. This online reference will provide you a valuable resource as you continue to learn about systems design and ‘the way things are done’ at MCW. It is a living document that all staff are expected to help develop, enforce and adhere to.

Requirements:
Bachelor’ s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline required
ï‚·Must have a minmum of 3 years of construction management experience for industrial projects
ï‚·Knowledge of industrial standards (API, ASME, etc.)
ï‚·English language is required
ï‚·Background developing construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit an asset
ï‚·Familiar with bid and tendering process
ï‚·Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint
ï‚·Experience working with customers and client base an asset
ï‚·Experience in site investigations and construction review is considered an asset
