Job Description
Position: Shipper / Receiver
Location: Richmond, BC, Canada
General Fusion is transforming how the world is energized by developing the first commercially-viable fusion power plant. Fusion will deliver clean, safe, and on-demand power at industrial scale, providing a powerful complement to renewables and a pathway to a zero-emissions grid.
Combining new technologies, proven industrial processes, and advances in fundamental fusion science, General Fusion aims to be the first in the world to develop commercial fusion power. Key performance requirements have been demonstrated at the system level, setting the stage for building a pre-commercial fusion power prototype.
Position Overview:
General Fusion’s technology development program relies on the rapid prototyping and testing of large scale, energetic systems. General Fusion maintains a dynamic, multi-disciplinary prototype and testing laboratory for this purpose.
Working out of our Richmond Lab and Office location the Shipper/Receiver will be responsible for the day-to-day shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory control activities in a unique, high tech research and development environment. This is a Full Time position, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
You must be capable of building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders alike. This is a hands-on role that requires an individual who can work independently, while providing a high level of service for the teams they support. This role requires individuals who can operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving product and deliveries, including offloading container and trailers
Verifying deliveries for content, accuracy, quantity and damage
Safely packing product and other items for shipment
Preparation of shipment documentation
Prep and Manage incoming and outgoing inventory though ERP (NetSuite)
Maintain inventory of common consumables such as fasteners and fittings, and supply on-demand materials when appropriate.
Monitor condition and stock of hand tools and cutting tools (drill bits, saw blades, etc.) and maintain inventory and orderliness of distributed tool chests and workshop
Maintain the lab and materials warehouse to ensure the safety and efficiency of the workplace
Other work may include: vacuum pump repair, maintaining fastener wall, tool inventory, daily forklift checks.
Able to lift up to 20kg
Other duties as assigned.
Relevant Skills and Experience:
Required:
Minimum 2 years in a warehouse or industrial environment, including shipping and receiving.
Excellent communication skills
Basic computer literacy (online ordering, shipping, receiving)
Strong aptitude for building relationships and fostering a team dynamic
Confident and able to interact with a broad range of people (oral / written communication)
Proven capacity towards problem solving.
Multi-tasking and prioritization skills
Desire to learn new skills and processes
Preferred:
Technician experience in technology development
Materials management experience
Basic PC and MS Office Application Skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Understanding of mechanics
Basic Fabrication, carpentry, machining and assembly skills
Forklift experience / licensing as asset. (will Train if necessary) (Sit down counterbalance)
Basic Experience with NetSuite ERP
Salary: $55,000 + annually
